Cockwells Update

Cockwells have been nominated for three awards, one of which is for the ‘Ocean Fugue’ 39ft Launch, which has been nominated by the readers of Classic Boat Magazine for “Powerboat of the Year” along with the Mylor Creek Boatyard which has been nominated for “Yard of the Year”. The third nomination is for the ‘Wheelhouse & Walkaround’ award for Cockwells’ vessel “Duchy 27” as part of the ‘Motor Boat of the Year’ awards. We wish them all the very best in their nominations.

Projects currently underway/due for completion:

Alfa Nero 82m - Full Repaint

Robusto 43m - Full Repaint

Latitude 52m - Superstructures Paint

Lionheart 60m - Full Repaint

O’Khalila 46m - Retouches

Atmosphere 45m - Rig Paint

Quite a lot of the boats are being repainted in Compsite Works, La Ciotat as well as in Monaco Marine. There is also the large conversion, ‘Enigma XK’ due tobe completed in Arc, La Rochelle, by July 2013. All other projects are taking place in the South of France with one in the Italian Benetti Yard.

Pendennis Update

We would like to extend our warmest congratulations to Pendennis Shipyard which is celebrating their 25th year! The Shipyard commenced trading, in Falmouth in 1988, with their first contract for the 125’ ketch Taramber, followed by a major refit of the 228’ three-masted  schooner Adix. Throughout 2013 Pendennis will be organising many events to celebrate this momentous occasion.

Sunrise Yachts new 63m

The Antalya-based shipyard Sunrise Yachts is currently working on the 63m motor yacht Hull 632 for a European client. With interior by well known Focus Yacht Design, the Hull 632 superyacht was designed by renowned Espen Øino. She is due to be delivered in 2014. Sunrise superyacht Hull 632 further strengthens the collaboration of Sunrise Yachts with the leading megayacht designer Espen Øino, with whom the shipyard is developing several projects. The interior design is entrusted to the talent of Bremen-based Focus Yacht Design. The scheduled build-time for the megayacht Hull 632 is 28 months.

Sunrise Yachts is back in the headlines this week with more good news as the Turkish yard announces another new order, this time for a 55.6m diesel-electric motor yacht.

Nick Horton – “A real heavy weight Yacht Specialist” – Chambers UK Directory 2012

Chambers has published the leading directories of the legal profession for over twenty years and their reputation is based on the independence and objectivity of the research that they do.  The 100 full-time researchers identify the world’s leading lawyers and law firms by interviewing thousands of lawyers and their clients.  No lawyer can buy their way into a Chambers Directory which are published annually.

Nick Horton had always had glowing write ups in Chambers in the past when he worked with other Law Firms.  His 2006 entry ran “The experienced and authoritative Nick Horton leads this 14-strong team.”  He is acknowledged as a leading figure in marine insurance work and he also offers litigation and arbitration services for clubs and underwriters.

Nick Horton now Director of Dorade Law has the following entry in the Chambers UK 2012 Directory:

Nick Horton of Dorade Ltd. is viewed by the market as “a real heavyweight yacht specialist.” He has developed a wealth of experience across the board working for superyacht yards, manufacturers, custom race-boat builders, distributors and naval architects. According to sources, Horton “offers a very personal service and his technical ability is second to none.”

Entry in Legal 500 Directory 2012

Dorade Law’s ‘excellent’ practice covers shipbuilding and commercial contracts, marine insurance and EU regulatory matters, and has a specialism in the yacht and superyacht industry. The ‘very experienced and knowledgeable’ Nick Horton heads the group.
