Our main aim is to keep clients out of costly disputes, wherever possible. We help our clients on a day to day basis to adopt strategies which anticipate and seek to avoid potential claims and losses.
We can provide independent, expert and cost effective advice aimed at resolution of all disputes. Our strength lies in taking a pragmatic and commercial approach in the conduct of pre-litigation negotiations. However when dispute is inevitable we will deploy our litigation experience.
We have substantial experience of conducting litigation at all levels of the English Courts including the Commercial Court, Admiralty Court and the Court of Appeal as well as in the European Court of Justice. Working with our correspondent lawyers we have advised and acted in relation to litigation in many other European states and further afield.
Our experience and familiarity with the customs and practice (and standard contracts) of the marine industries makes us ideally suited to mediate or arbitrate disputes quickly and fairly.
Nick Horton acts not only as a mediator but also as an arbitrator in yacht and commercial contract disputes – a role he has fulfilled on many occasions in cases where the parties want a binding decision to be imposed on them. For straightforward matters these may be dealt with on documents alone or with a hearing.
