Nick Horton

Nick Horton is the principal lawyer at Dorade Law. He comes from a family with strong links with the sea and the law. He read law at Merton College, Oxford and attended law school in the City of London.

Nick has specialised in the law of the yacht and marine industries since qualifying in the City of London in 1986. He subsequently moved west in 1990 and was instrumental in setting up Davies Grant & Horton, a specialist marine law firm based in the West of England. From 2001 he spent five years running the shipping and transport team of a top 100 national law firm before returning to his core specialism in the yacht and marine industry with Dorade.

Nick is a trained and accredited mediator dealing particularly with mediations in the yacht industry. He is reputed for his experience and technical skills in the superyacht and marine industries and for his marine insurance expertise. He takes a close interest in commercial and legal developments particularly in the superyacht industry as a whole and to this end is a frequent commentator on these issues.
